I have kept a diary since I was in elementary school. And I still have all those diaries. Over the years, the form has changed from paper to electronic, but the idea is still the same. I have written fairly regularly about what was going on in my life and how I felt about that.
When I was small I talked about home, school and friends. I journaled when we moved, which was often, and about how I felt about that. It was usually awful.
When I got to be an adult I wrote about home, the community, our kids and friends. I also journaled about moving, which was not quite so often, and how I felt about that. Sometimes I was excited, sometimes regretful.
So here I am today, writing again. It has been a life's work of which I am proud.
