A PEBBLE IN A POOL
We just never know what effects our words will have. Here is a little story.

I was bantering with my roommate over the weekend. He had told me an old joke. Of course he loves to tell me jokes because I never can remember them, nor can I tell jokes myself. Thus, I am the ideal audience. The joke made us both laugh. It was not one of his most sophisticated offerings, so I teased him with a comment. "You are back in the third grade, huh?"
For the past few days, he has been checking this idea out with me. He might say, "So you think I am a third grader?" Or, "Well, that's what you get from a third grader." Etc. Though we have been married fifty years, I am still capable of inadvertently hurting his feelings.
My careless remark was engendered by his endearing Little-Boy enthusiasm for juvenile humor. Be careful of your words. The lake can have ripples on it for days.
My topical post today at South by Southwest is about good news.
