The photo was free; the beauty is free; the air is free and clear.
My memory of being in many places very similar to this one is free. It is a sensual pleasure to remember the smell of the pine trees, the feel of the chilly water as it passed through my extended fingers. I can hear the wind in the pines, the hushed stillness of the valley, the rush of the waters--not a roar, but a fast gurgle. The Teton peaks are a breathtaking sight; the blue of the sky and the white of the clouds are almost brittle in the clarity of hue.
Natures elements are free of polution. We see soil and stone, living and dead plant material, running water, snow and cloud mists, and the amazing change in elevation. It is hard to over-emphasize how quickly the Tetons rise up from the flatlands around Jackson Hole.
We are in the little foothill area here, and the air will be cool in summer, though the sun shines hot on your skin because of the thin air at altitude.
Your lungs will take days to work as well as they do in your normal flat locale. For all of you flatlanders unfamiliar with the area, here are a couple of ways to make more of your virtual visit - for free!
