Very often astronauts and cosmonauts say that they are living out their dreams. Recently returned Spaceflight Participant Anousheh Ansari, from Plano, Texas said repeatededly that she went into space to do just that. The Iranian-born adventurer blogged from space, and her site (the first blog posted from space) got millions of "hits" and thousands of comments. Ansari made lots of news and even has her own Wikipedia page. For further information, the NASA website has a page about the ISS.
The so-called "space tourist" program of the Russian Space agency is to be commended. It adds citizen representation to the International space effort , as well as much needed funds to the minimalist Russian space program. Because I am an incurable romantic, I cannot think of anything that furthers the cause of world peace more than the International Space Station. Ansari said in her blog (I'll paraphrase) that she thought world leaders ought to go into space for a changed perspective. I agree, wholeheartedly!
Live well, and prosper,
and here's a Vulcan V hand sign to all of you.
