The Wishing Well
If you could make a wish upon a well,
What would your wildest wish be?
If you could make a wish you had to tell,
What secret wish would you feel free
to reveal to all, to try to sell?
We throw our wishes in deep dark waters
If we always keep them secret.
We do no favors to sons or daughters,
in a model of wishes without outlet.
If asking, the world can still afford us.
In books and pictures the rainbow ends.
Kids come to believe in the pot of gold.
What is the message that old tale sends?
Lets hope it's not, "wait till you get really old."
Ask and wish. Upon this we should depend.
