Fascination with celebrities

Jennifer Aniston (info at IMDB) is a celebrity.

Why are we so fascinated with celebrities? We love to look at their pictures, hear gossip about them, and learn about the details of their lives. We sometimes envy them for being famous and successful. And we feel sad when bad things happen to them.

The price of celebrity can be very high, however. I don't think I would want to pay such a high price. I think I am happy with not being famous. I will happily skip all the mythology.
