Myth is the public dream, and dream is the private myth. - Joseph Campbell
What's in a rainbow?
- Scientifically - Just a bit of water vapor, a correct sun angle, and the eye's ability to decipher tthe image. So simple.
- Spiritually - Seems to be God's message of renewal of hope. We see the promise of something good to happen. So welcome.
- Visually - The curved form is eye-pleasing. The colorss are perfectly balanced in hue and value. So pleasureable to see.
- Metaphorically - A metaphor for hidden treasure, available to those who will travel to the ends of the earth. So sweet.
- Historically - The Bible includes a rainbow story. Ancient and modern myth use the rainbow as a symbol. So meaningful.
- Musically - Judy Garland's "Over the Rainbow" made millions. The tune still holds the magic of the Land of Oz. So beautiful.
