The Blank Page
The paper is handmade and beautiful. It waits for the word, breathless and quiet. What will be written upon the empty page?
A sonnet, a song, a searing critique - what will the pen ascribe for the author? How many words will lie on the page, thousands or a well chosen few?
The paper is neutral until words join it. The blank page can not move lovers together nor enemies to war. Words on a page can make things happen.
The creation: eyes and hands roam from line to line, effortlessly. In harmony, paper, pen and author become one. Words leap from mind to page, finally clearly written.
For the reader words leap from page to mind. Mind becomes thought -- excitedly, or happily, or poignantly -- or a hundred such feeling words, easily.
The writer - then the reader - learns, feels, decides, changes as the page goes from blank to meaningful.
The circle is complete.
