Image Driven
Leaving the TV on is the temptation. To entertain
Us and our kids; it is probably better to abstain.
Pictures manipulate thoughts in that screen pane.
Lost peace and composure, there's an energy drain.
How insidious it is, so very hard hard to explain.
Pundits get paid to state the obvious, their inane
Blather, hyperbole, distortions again and again.
The news is the horse race in the latest campaign.
Celebrity antics represent stories of the mundane.
Watching television does something to your brain.
TV news broadcasts the outline of a bloodstain.
For some of us that faraway war is just insane.
A mike shoved towards the relative of the slain.
Violence eventually numbs us to another's pain,
It is if our emotions bank got a shot of Novocain.
Know that too much TV is a recipe for eyestrain.
Don't be fooled by the seductive. Healthy disdain
For this time-filling distraction we should retain.
Real talk in the room, your eye contact maintain.
Television is an an enterprise for business gain.
